The competition, themed “Recovery – Images of Revival” attracted entries from many parts of the region, which were exhibited at the Hall for Cornwall in Truro in January.
The Chairman of the judging panel was Peter Holdgate, Regional Picture Editor for South West Media Group, which includes the Western Morning News, the Herald in Plymouth, Express & Echo Exeter, and Herald Express Torquay. The panel also included Ian Walker for Begbies Traynor, and Heads of Photography Steve Tynan for Falmouth University, David Kinney for Plymouth College of Art and Stewart Barker for Exeter College.
Peter Holdgate commented “It is always a privilege to be asked to judge a photographic competition, and I was very impressed by the creativity of the entrants. I think we all agree that photography is a deeply personal medium, and the winning entry was considered by the judges to be the best in reflecting the competition’s theme of ‘recovery and revival’. “
Ian Walker added, “It was interesting to see the many different interpretations of our brief, and I’m pleased that Begbies Traynor have been able to provide both encouragement and reward for some talented photographers.”
